Index is compiled from the original records of
the Funeral Directors. The Index contains
7,150 entries. Each entry contains,
surname, given names, age, date of death, place
of burial or cremation and reference
number. You will find entries in this
Index for people who usually resided outside of
the local area as well as residents of the
area. These areas include all States
of Australia and overseas countries. Some
burials took place at other cemeteries or their
ashes were sent outside of the local area.
The name of the cemetery or where the ashes were
forwarded has been supplied. For those
places outside of the State of Queensland, the
abbreviated State name is also
indicated.

QLD GOVERNMENT RAILWAYS - INDEX TO STAFF
RECORDS 1878 - 1946
The Qld
Government Railways employed a large number of
people during the development of the Rail System
and their records were kept in Staff Registers
for many years. Ten
Registers have been microfilmed by the Qld State
Archives (QSA) and the films are available for
research in the Public Search Rooms. Until
now they have not been indexed and have been
time consuming to
research.
The
Index contains the surname, given name, date of
birth, date of hiring, QSA Register No and page
number and list approximately 8,800 names. The
Registers themselves have details of position,
wages, areas of employment and in many cases
interesting details in the remarks
column.
The
Index is available on CD-ROM only and sells for
$60.00 (inc p+p) in Australia.
The two Railway Indices are available for
$100.00 (inc p+p) in Australia.

STATIONS 1889-1912
The Qld Government
Railway employed a large number of people during
the development of the Rail
System.
These
12 Registers have been microfilmed by Queensland
State
Archives and these films are available in their
Public Search Room. An index
to these records will allow researchers and
historians the ability to discover who worked
where and in what
capacity.
These Registers cover
Departments, Branches, Stations and Railways and
cover a wide variety of positions including but
not limited to clerical staff, engineers,
mechanics, boilermakers, coachbuilders,
strikers, station masters, porters, signalmen,
gangers, gatekeepers, cleaners, oilers, drivers
etc, etc.
The Departments are
Commissioner’s Staff, Chief Mechanical
Engineers, Traffic Branch, Maintenance and six
Registers of staff employed from 1889 –
1895.
They cover all parts of Qld and the Index
contains over 33,000 entries in alphabetical
order by
surname.
The
Index is only available on CD-Rom at a cost of
