Seniors Third grade Saturday 7th April 2007
Warnervale 0 V Ourimbah 13
After what started out as a wet and cold morning it turned out to be a wet and cold day.
With limited numbers to start the game we managed to pull together a full strength team.
The boy's were committed at the break-down and general play keeping Ourimbah to 3-0 in the 1st half.
Jason Walker was strong in the centres and worked well with Shaun Juckes at 5/8th, crashing the ball up again and again.
The forwards hustled well and were strong in the Scrum, with Mark Murphey putting in a strong effort at Prop.
Needless to say it was a good first hit out and we can take away a few points to work on.
Points this week went to (3) Jason Walker (2) Shaun Juckes (1) Scott Coombes
Saturday 14th April 2007
Warnervale 8 V Woy Woy 0
What a difference a week can make - after out first up loss the boys were keen to make amends. After a passionate speech by our new assistant Coach Mark Langley we were fired up and ready to go led out with Shaun Juckes as Captain.
Woy Woy were always going to be tough to beat at home but our boys came out keen from the get go. It was a tough day at the office for the forwards with Woy Woy playing it hard up front, needless to say we didn't take a backward step and muscled up to match them with Sledge all over the paddock leading by example at Vice Captain.
Our first points came towards the end of the first half with a good run from Ben Bryant at half back and then the forward's, finishing off with Toss crashing over for the try. The Second half picked up where the first left off with a high level of intensity in the forwards and the backs keen to have a run. Each time Woy Woy ran the ball in the backs our backs were matched up and ready for them. The other points came late in the second half from only a talked about move from Langer's (a drop goal) by Steve Morrison....... needless to say we now have a name for the move.
A good improvement on last week, we came away from the game victorious with still more improvement required. Well done boy's and well done Langer's.
Points this week (3) Steve Morrison (2) Wayne (Sledge) Groeneweg (1) Shaun Juckes
Saturday 5th May 2007
Warnervale 0 V Kariong 27
What a start we had when we lost Matt Short in the first 3 minutes with rib cartilage damage after the first scrum.
Not to be deterred Troy who has played lock jumped into the front row moving Mark Murphy to hooker and both played well in their new positions. We knew Kariong would be hard to beat but we managed to go to half time only 5 points down. After a rev up at half time the boys were keen to get back on the park, unfortunately we ran out of legs and managed to go down in the end 27 to nil. Needless to say if you don't train you can't expect to beat the better sides in this comp. Mark Murphy walked away with the man of the mach never giving up all day. The 2 points went to Ballsy with another consistent effort and Steve Morrison picked up the 1 with a consistent effort at fullback.
Saturday 12th May 2007
Warnervale 6 V Northlakes 3
Let's just start with "there's nothing better than beating Northlakes at home"...... this was always going to be a tough mission after our performance against Kariong last week. Luckily that's behind us and the boys were ready to move on and wanted to prove they were better than the score of the week before. I just want to say 'can everyone please get to the game at 12:00'. I am grey enough and don't need to search for players with 10 minutes to go. On this occasion it was a blessing in disguise with Tank turning up and Ray Jordon-Miller turning up with 2 of his mates.
We seem to have found a new number 8 with Jeremy (the coach of the under 8's) pulling on his boot's to give us a hand. A great performance from him with a couple of great runs and bone crunching defence. The surprise package of the day was a 5 metre run from Chris Head taking on the Northlakes defence. Young Wade was consistent again backing up after colts to start and finish the game for us at half back. Ballsy was on song with the boot kicking both of our penalty goals along with Sledge and Jason Walker working hard in the centres. Jason must of forgotten how hard he can hit when he tackled one of the Northlakes attackers leaving them grasping for air. Jason Walker has proved age doesn't have to slow you down, walking away with the Man of the Match today, Sledges performance again was floorless taking the 2 points and Jeremy Leech taking 1.
Saturday 19th May
Warnervale 17 V Terrigal 28
A great day for Rugby at Wildcat Park, the team was led out with Sledge as Captain and Mark Murphy running the Pigs.
We knew this would be a hard game with last year's Grand Finalists doing well so far this season. None the less we were confident with a combination of old heads and new youthful exuberance. Today saw another 4 new players turn up keen to join the mighty 3rd's.
Terrigal were well drilled and drew us from one side on the park to the other with some great work in the ruck & maul pushing us every step of the way. Our first points came from a well placed kick and some great chasing from new recruit Justin Nixon to score a well deserved try.
Unfortunately we struggled in the linout with Chris Head doing all he could but was out classed by the Terrigal jumpers, needless to say Chris made up for this with a couple of great run's. and what we lacked there was made up for in general play with Ray Jordan-Miller tackling everything that moved.
Today our back line started to show some great signs of cohesion with the ball making it's way to the wing with Ad's scoring in the corner.
The boy's continued with their willingness to play to the end scoring a try to Manual scoring on the bell, well done boy's you all showed what Warnervale is made of....... a great spirit and willingness to do what it TAKES TO HELP YOUR MATES.
Points this week (3) Ray Jordan-Miller (2) Jeremy Leech (1) Wayne (Sledge) Groeneweg
Saturday 26th May
Warnervale 19 V Gosford 19
Today saw us down at Carrington Street to take on the Red Devil's. Gosford managed to field a young, fit side which caused us some running early in the game. Our Forwards worked well together led by Toss and Mark Murphy, we had a new scrum half today in Manual who did a great job and made some great breaks and great cover defence. After a charged down kick Gosford managed to put their first points on the board narrowly missing rhe kick and backing up with another due to some handling errors from our boys.
Our first try came in the first half from some good work by the forwards and a block busting run from Matt Swaine who was driven over the line by the boys to score over the far side of the field. Our next try came from some great lead up work from the backs with great running from both Manual & Ballsey. Our forwards had the Red Devils on their line and a Superman type dive saw Neil Jarvis over for a try, good on you Neil. Our final try came about much the same way, with more good lead up work from Manny,Craig & Ballsey this time it was Toss' turn to hit it up and be pulled down just shy of the line, with some great johnny on the spot work from Pete Lee to crash over from 5 out.
Good work boys we are really starting to come together, Toss walked away with the man of the match never giving up all day having block busting runs time and time again. The 2 points went to Mark Murphy with another consistent effort and Ray (Jordy) Miller picked up the 1 with a consistent effort on the side of the scrum.
Saturday 2nd June 2007
Warnervale 24 V Avoca 26
Well what a game we had, the score is truly indicative of the game.
We won the toss and decided to kick off wanting to dominate in the forwards from the get go. A well timed kick from Ballsey and some great chasing for the loose forwards saw a turnover on the kick off. (well done boy's) Soon latter we had our first points on the board thanks to a try from Steve Morrison and Ballsey was on song with the boot dropping it over for the 2 points.
The forwards worked well together starving Avoca of the ball and sending it to the backs when they wanted it, Chris supplied great ball from the scrum to Sledge at five-eight with Ballsey fitting in well in the centre's breaking the line and off loading. This good work and the tenacity of the forwards saw Ray-Jordan Miller crash over for our second try. A lapse of concentration saw Avoca sneak through for a try, but with Ballsey on song with the boot kicking a penalty we went to half time 17-5.
Avoca came out hard in the second half scoring 2 quick trys. With more great work in the second half from both the forwards and backs we saw a great run from Lang Juckes standing in a tackle waiting for the forwards to arrive with the end result of Ballsey going over to run around under the post's pumping his fist in the air and scoring under the black dot. With 2 minutes to go we were up 24-19. Unfortunally with our legs running out of steam and a kick to the open we saw Avoca run the length of the field to score and go down 26-24.
A great effort all round from one and all, you all should be proud of the job we did, Lang walked away with the man of the match with great defence and some great running. The 2 points went to Toss with some great running with the ball. Ballsey picked up the 1 with a consistent effort with the boot and some good strong running.
Saturday 7th July 2007
Warnervale 19 v The Entrance 27
Today saw us on the road to The Entrance, unfortunately a story that is fast becoming the norm with our players still turning up with 15 mins to go until kick off. The Entrance won the toss and ran with the wind, with local knowledge of the ground and the wind behind them they manged to keep us in our 22 for most of the 1st half and scoring 2 tries converting and kicking a penalty goal. We seem to start slow and then build up 20mins into the first half, this was the way again today. It took a great break from Steve Morris with Ballsey backing up and Shorty receiving the final pass to be dragged down just short of the line only to reach out and score the 5 pointer under the posts, Ballsey converted and we were back in the game.
We started the second half where we left off strong in the forwards making room for the backs to run, The Entrance were strong in the line out picking off a majority of our ball. Again The Entrance managed to score a couple of quick tries which put us on the back foot, but the boys were keen to play rugby and really dug deep. With some great build up from the forwards we saw just how good our backs were with ball in hand moving the ball to the wing with young Dwane from the colts scoring in the corner. We seemed to just keep going and the forwards did well moving down the field which led to our finel try from Manual.
Points this week (3) Manual, (2) Chris Hunter & (1) Shorty
Round 14 - Saturday 14th July
Warnervale 7 V The Kariong 26
This week saw us on the road again to Kariong, unfortunately the story that yet again is fast becoming the norm with our players still turning up with 15 mins to go until kick off. We won the toss and ran with the wind, there was some great work from the forwards with good ball to the backs with Steve Morris finishing off to score the 5 pointer, Ballsey converted and we were in the game leading at the break 7-5.
We started the second half strong in the forwards making room for the backs to run, but Kariong were strong in the set pieces as well giving their backs plenty of ball. Kariong managed to score a couple of quick tries through their five eight which put us on the back foot, our boys dug in but Kariong were well drilled and managed to finish up scoring 3 tries and converting them in the second half. Again we had some help from the colts with Dwane & Wade running on (thanks boys)
Points this week (3) Ballsey (2) Chris Hunter & (1) Mark Murphey
Round 15 Saturday 21st July
Warnervale 0 V Northlake’s 7
Well another gutsy effort by our boy’s with a strong start in the first half.
From the kick off we had hard running and even harder hitting lead by Mark Murphy, Manual Aholelei & Shorty.
Our boy’s frustrated the visitors starving them of the ball causing them to lash out and concede several penalties.
Ballsey lead the backs well with good kicking in general play, with 2 penalty attempts just missing the uprights.
The second half started strongly but for a couple of missed tackles in our 20 meter zone which lead to a try and goal to the visitors.
Our boy’s never gave up and pressured the visitors on their line to the bell which saw the visitors throw the ball dead.
A quick penalty tap from Shorty to Manual saw us held up over the line only to pack another 2 scrums 5 meters out and finish 7-0.
Points this week went to Steve Morrison (3) Manual Aholelei (2) and Mark Murphy (1)

Season 2007 is progressing from trials to competition this Saturday, 07/04/07, against Ourimbah in the first round at Ourimbah. Unfortunately Ourimbah do not field U19s, which means we have a BYE. This gives us an additional week of preparation before playing Woy Woy the following week 14/04 at Woy Woy.
This year so far we have missed some of the 06 players but have introduced some new ones. We have a 15 man squad to take the field and are working on some possible new players. If any of the 06 players return during the season they will have to work hard to get a "run on" position in 2007. The first two trials played this year were a bit disorganised and we were feeling out a few positions with new players. The new players in 07 have responded very well and we are pleased with their application at training and games.
Last Saturday 31/03, we played Waratah at the new "Hannons" ground and after a very good preparation run on Thursday night I am pleased to say, that it was possibly the best performance I have seen them do over 18 months. The forwards at the breakdown did not over commit. In defense this gave opportunities to harrass and intimidate the opposition and in attack we had ball carriers put their hand up for a run. We have the essence of a consistent and good backline which ran the ball well and the mid field attacking kicks were picking up 20-30 metres each time plus the attacking line-out due to the great efforts of the support players chasing the kicks.
Importantly........the players appeared to enjoy themselves and THEY saw what can be done with a bit of structure and numbers at training !
Michael and I are impressed.... and the players should stand up and be proud of this achievement. We have a long way to go, but we are in the right direction. This Saturday we will get together and have a "team strategy meeting" and "easter egg hunt" at my place (Lisarow) prior to watching grade at Ourimbah. This is important and all are encouraged to attend and make a day of it........ LETS DO IT !

Round 2 - April 14 2007
(Woy Woy -Loss 46/12)
Our first game of the year was against Woy Woy @ Woy Woy defeated 46-12. Set pieces were OK and at half time we were only 7 points behind. Unfortunately, a try which was scored in the corner in the early part of the secound half was disallowed due to the referee not seeing it, although the linesman did.
This was a decisive point in the match and the players were unable to focus on what needed to be done, as opposed to worrying about what had occurred. You can't change the past, but you can dictate your future!
The players continued to tackle around the chest area and shoulders. First up tackles just fell away. The opposition ran away! Tackle Tackle Tackle!
Picked up a couple of new faces and another player from last year.
Round 3 - April 21 2007
(Southertn Lakes - Loss 22/5)
We did some tackling grids during the week and the players demonstrated that they have the ability. However, when it comes to the day the players seem to focus on the upper body and grabbing around the chest as opposed to taking out the legs. All this did was allow the opposition time to gather players around them as opposed to us putting them on the deck and picking up the ball. A pretty "dumb option"!
One of our new 07 players Dallas (PECS), got 3 points in this game and was the stand out tackler of the day. Southern Lakes attacked wide at every opportunity and even though we spoke about this before the game, players did not react. Most of the damage was done in the first quarter of the game, half time 17/5.
In the last 5-10 minutes the players picked up the tempo and with good field position looked like scoring. Bad Luck! First up tackles in backline defence and tracking together needs work. The backline has only been together this year, so with some constant work they will find their way!
Good news, another 06 player, Chris Lewis has returned for 07 and picked up 2 point on the day.
Round 1 - April 21 2007
Warnervale v Woy Woy
A wet week and all games washed out. To be replayed on June 9. Due to Terrigal U/19's pulling out of the competition there has been a re-draw of the 07 competition. This means that this week would have been the 1st Round and previous games have been declared trials.
Round 2 Saturday 05/05/07
Warnervale 5 v Avoca 69
14 players this week, 4 with the flu ! Not a good start but the guys put their best effort in ! Did not have much field opportunity and Avoca constantly turned the ball wide and ran down the 15 metre channel in front of their supporters. They do it all the time !
Tackling improved, but before you can tackle or put pressure on the opposition, you must MOVE UP in a straight compressed defensive line. On occassions when this happened Avoca dropped the ball. It seems that ALL teams wish to attack wide in 07.
Round 3. 12th May 2007
Northlakes 18, Warnervale 8
Played at Slade Park with bench players combining Colts and U/17's. Thanks to the U/17's that made the effort to come over and help out and then return for their game.
One player received a red card for a team repeat infringment (off-side) and this inhibited the player to move up in defence afterwards. Some good sections of play, but the defense still needs much improvement and committment, as a team.
Round 4. 19th May 2007
Warnervale 7, Southlakes 35
Again we had players (U/19s) on the bench, which is new for us. Unfortunately, as the scores represents, we are just not tackling effectively. Players get close enough to grab shoulders, but don't stike the target zone....lower!
Set pieces are OK, but our defence off them needs attention and work, communication is lacking badly! Seven players backed up for 2nds and one played 1sts with the remainder on the bench, Good club support
Round 5. 26th May 2007
Warnervale 0, Entrance 74
Again, a couple of players (U/19's) on the bench, unfortunately two got lost on the way and arrived at the end. With the additional 5/6 players that have arrived over the past 2/3 weeks it has meant re-structuring some positions and educating a few that are new to the game.
Player attendance at training Tues//Wed nights looks good and is a positive step, so we need to focus on providing the skills to these new players and working on a team defence pattern. We need to reduce the For/Against margins over the next five games of the second round, and then cause some upsets in the 3rd round with some attacking flare. The attraction to play grade must not undermine their capability to perform in THEIR competition ! They are effectively U18's playing against a large number of U19's. However, if some of the players consider themselves good enough to compete in 2nd grade, then welcome to the real world of rugby. "Colts" is the transition from "aged to open/grade rugby. No excuses.....identify the problem, fix it ...and move forward !!

Round One - Saturday 14th April 2007 - Warnervale V Southern Lakes
Well what a great start to the season, first up we drew Southern Lakes at home.
As usual the boys were there early and keen to go, unfortunately Southern Lakes only managed to arrive with 5 kids.
In what has become a Warnervale tradition of wanting to give everyone equal game time we gave Southern Lakes two of our kids for the 1st & 2nd half.
Southern Lakes won the toss and decided to kick off, needless to say we scored our first try in the following play.
Connor Peden and Matt Peebles picked up where they left off last year with a strong effort in attack leading to trys.
One of our new comers Chance Hamon played well all game and walked away as player of the day.
Lachlan Head also played well scoring his first try of the regular Season (Look out Gary he's heading for 1st Grade)
All in all a great effort all round, well done boys
Round 2 - Saturday 21st April Warnervale 50 V Woy Woy 40
Another great day for Rugby with a short drive down to Ettalong.
As usual the boy's arrived ready and keen to go, unfortunally Woy Woy only managed the field 6 players.
In what is the norm for Warnervale we gave them 1 player for the first and second half so they could field a full side.
Elijah Whitbread played for Woy Woy in the first half with great tenacity in defence and attack scoring all four of Woy Woys tries.
We also has Connor Peden playing for Woy Woy in the second half scoring three of their four tries for that half.
Warnervale won the toss and decided to receive the ball, and scored reasonably quickly. We played well but you could see the difference between the two teams. Our boy's were well drilled and always on the ball. The Bloore boys played well in defence making plenty of tags and snaring 2 tries for Jeremy and 1 for Patrick. Chance Hamon also had a great day in defence and scored another try, Jamie Leota managed to open his account with a try today as well. Ben Kelly who started the season slowly has shot out of the blocks snaring 2 tries today and heap of tags in defence.
The player of the day this week went to Elijah Whitbread with a great first half for Woy Woy and a great second half for us. Well done boy's.
Round 4 - Saturday 5th May Warnervale 50 V Woy Woy White 20
So off we went again to the other end of the coast to Ettalong to challenge Woy Woy White and yes this time we played against a full side so there was no advantage to the other team. Our boys defence was great with ensuring Woy Woy's tries were truly earned. Matthew Martin and Matthew Peebles lead the tag count with 16 and 15 respectively. At every turnover Warnervale only had 1 - 2 phases before scoring their tries. Let's just say you don't need long legs to run fast with Lachlan Head running the length of the field. 1 try each for Eli Whitbread, Matthew Peebles, Lachlan Head and Matty Martin and 2 tries each for Patrick Bloore, Connor Peden and Chance Hamon. It pretty much went whoever got to take the tap restart went in to score a try.
This weeks player of the match goes to Matthew Martin who also managed a try along with his tags.
Round 5 - Saturday 12th May Warnervale 60 V Avoca 30
It doesn't seem to affect our boys being away or at home. Today hosting a full strength Avoca, Warnervale once again showed a lot of skill in defence. Each week the boys go from strength to strength in defence with all the competition finding it hard to break through. Today showed how strong our boys have meshed as team, with the ball being evenly shared around. Patrick Bloore and Ben Kelly managed to snag a try each, Matty Martin, Eli Whitebread, and Connor Peden scoring 2 a piece and Matthew (Moose) Peebles went in for 4 tries and was on fire today in defence with 32 tags.
Look out in years to come Avoca, the first grade premiership will be won by the boys who came from the 2007 under 7's.
Round 6 - Saturday 19th May 2007 - Terrigal 35 V Warnervale 40

Today was one of the hardest matches for our boys coming up against a full strength Terrigal at home. After a chat with the Terrigal Manager I found out that Terrigal have only had 1 try scored against them, up until today that is. Apparently most of them are soccer converts and are pretty quick.
Terrigal used the whole field and tested our boys ability to defend but we answered the challenge, with both Patrick and Jeremy Bloore tagging well. Even the long legged step of Matthew Peebles was tested today but he still managed to get through with 3 tries. Connor Peden played a great game scoring the winning try in the dying minutes of the match and walking away with the Player of the Match award.
Saturday 26h May 2007 Warnervale 7's 50 V Woy Woy (Red) 0
Today saw us at home to a full strength Woy Woy Red side, Woy Woy won the toss and decided to kick off (bad mistake, if you give Warnervale the ball there is alway's a try coming). We had some terrific defence today making a total of 83 tag's - 24 of which were made by Matt (Moose) Peebles. The game was unfortunate as the score show's as very one-sided with our boy's scoring at will, even when Woy Woy had the ball it was usually turned over which led to another Warnervale try.
The tries today were scored by Patrick Bloore, Chance Hamon, Matthew Martin, Elijah Whitbread and a length of the field try from Lachlan Head. Matt Peebles picked up 2 and Connor Peeden did well scoring 3.
This week's player of the match goes to Patrick Bloore who also managed a try along with his 15 tags. Good work boy's you are truly becoming the front runners of the competition.
Saturday 2nd June 2007 Warnervale 7's 45 V Avoca 15
Today we made the long trek to Avoca and were met with a rare suprise...... they had a full team.
Chance Hamon captained our side and won to toss we started with the ball, needless to say 2minutes in and we scored.
Jeremy Bloore was on fire dominating the tag count with twelve and picking up a well deserved try, not to be outdone patrick Bloore chipped in with a try as well (well done the Bloore Boy's) Avoca never seemed to get into the game dropping the ball and running out of the field of play, and our boy's scored at will with Matthew Peebles,Matthew Martin and Conner Peden scoring a try each from turned over ball.
Chance Hammon & Jamie Leota worked well in defence to pick up some try saving tags.
The tries today were scored by Jeremy Bloore 1, Patrick Bloore 1, another length of the field try from Lachlan Head. Matt (Moose) Peebles & Matt Martin both picked up 2 and Connor Peeden did well also scoring 2.
This weeks player of the match goes to Jeremy Bloore.
Round 12 - Saturday 7th July Warnervale 75 V Woy Woy (Red) 20
With the school holidays in full swing this week we struggled with number at training, not to be deterred the 4 boy's that made it had fun training with the under 8's. Today was always going to test us 4 from our 11 kids away, in the true under 7 spirit the boys all said that 7 was enough and none of them would nee a rest today. It is a pity Woy Woy didn't have the same attitude, they arrived late with only 6 kids in tow with 1 refusing to play. To keep the numbers even at 6 on 6 young Chance Hamon put his hand up to give them a hand in the first half.
The numbers didn't seen to deter our boys merely giving them more room to run and score try's, and score try's that did with everyone crossing the line to score a try today, and they went like this 3 tries to Zac Head, Connor Peden & Matthew Pebles 2 tries to Chance Hamon, Lachlan Head (and yes 1 of them was a length of the field run away again) 1 try each to Ben Kelly and Jamie Leota. The game was not a 1 sided as the score indicates, Woy Woy had the ball for extremely long periods of time but could not get through our defence with Matt Peebles making 45 tags with Connor not wanting to be left out making 35 tags and our surprise package today was Jamie Leota making 16. A big thankyou to Gary Head for running with the boy's while I reffed.
The Player of the day today wen to Ben Kelly.
Round 13 - Saturday 14th July Warnervale 55 V Avoca 55
(35 of Avoca Points scored by the Warnervale boy's who filled in)
Well the school holiday are still on but all the boy's were back and keen to play footy and play footy they did. In what is rapidly becoming the norm the other team turned up with 5 kids looking for us to bolster their numbers. At first none of our boy's were keen to play in the other team
but with the motherly coaxing of Alex Bloore Patrick was then keen to help and Matt Martin also agreed to help.
Today's game went the way they all should with us scoring then Avoca scoring the Avoca's coach was impressed with the attack and defence of our boy's it seem's when our boy's play for the other team they score tries with Patrick scoring 3 and Matt Martin scoring 1.
The second half went the same way with us scoring then Avoca scoring, this time it was Elijah Whitbread and Jeremy Bloore playing for Avoca with Jeremy Bloore scoring 3 tries for them. Today the scoring went like this 3 tries to Connor Peden, Matthew Peebles, Patrick Bloore & Jeremy Bloore 2 tries to Jamie Leota 1 try each to Zac Head, Ben Kelly Matt Martin & Elijah Whitbread. Tody was a great day in defence with all of our boy's making tags. A big thankyou to Gary Head for running with the boy's while I reffed.
The Player of the day today wen to Jamie Leota
Round 14 - Saturday 21st July Warnervale 55 V Woy Woy (White) 45
This week saw us at home to Woy Woy (White) with a near full strength team of 10 boys, yet again Woy Woy turned up under strength with 8 boy's. After a quick chat with their coach (who is much easier to talk to than the Woy Woy Red coach) she managed to grab another 2 boys from their under 8's to have 6 to run on the field. This week's game was refereed by Gary Head (thanks Gaz) and what a great job he did.
Connor Peden was today's captain and won the toss choosing to receive the ball, which of course lead to an ensuing try. This week we tried a different tactic in defence with 2 boy's nominated to cover the middle and the other boys spread out in the centres and wing. This worked well and we saw very little tries scored against up in the middle of the park. Both Connor and Matt Peebles did well covering the wings making 12 tags between them. Ben Kelly worked well in the middle of the park making 7 tags. The tries this week went as follows - 4 tries to Matt Peebles who did some great running changing direction and stepping through the defence, 2 tries to Jeremy Bloore who also changed direction and scored , and 1 try each to Chance Hamon, Lachlan Head, Matt Martin, Connor Peden and Eligah Whitbread.
Most of Woy Woy's points came from their 2 under 8 players, our boys did a great job to close them down in defence with Jeremy, Patrick and Eligah making 4 tags each - Jamie, Chance & Matt Martin also worked well in defence great effort from the boys all round, well done boys.
The Player of the day today went to Matt Peebles.
Round 15 - Saturday 28th July Warnervale 55 V Southern Lakes 40
Today we were at home to Southern Lakes and once again our boys showed great sportsmanship by helping out the other side. A big thank you to Chance Hamon, Jamie Leota, Matthew Martin and Eli Whitbread for helping out and scoring 4 of their tries. It was great that the effort by these boys was also acknowledged by the Southern Lakes coach who presented them with an encouragement award.
We continued our new game plan of 2 boys covering the middle to ensure that all get even ball time. This new tactic makes our defence hard to bust through. All the boys get in there and make tags and this week it was evenly spread throughout the team. Moose Peebles lead the way with 19, followed by Jeremy Bloore and Connor Peden with 12 each, Chance Hamon with 9, Patrick Bloore with 8, Ben Kelly with 6, Eli Whitbread and Matt Martin both had 4, Zac Head with 3 and Jamie Leota and Lachlan Head with 1 each. Tries this week went to Jeremy Bloore with 4, Connor Peden and Moose Peebles with 2 each, and 1 each for Patrick Bloore, Chance Hamon and Eli Whitbread.
The Player of the day today went to Jeremy Bloore who has improved out of sight this season.
Round 16 - Saturday 04th August Warnervale 50 V Terrigal 25
This week we made the trek to Terrigal and we welcomed with a surprise change of field size. They tried this on us last time but we were against it as the boys had only ever played on a mini field but today we had no say. We think this was an effort to try and beat us as we had already beaten them twice previously....................but didn't our boys surprise them.
The bigger field just gave our boys more room to out play them and didn't they do it well.
Terrigal had a full side as well as plenty of reserves so we were evenly matched. Once again our defence was exceptional with Jeremy Bloore making a huge 16 tags followed by Ben Kelly with 10. After a bump on the head and being stomped on Connor Peden went on to score 3 tries with 2 of those being the length of the field. Moose Peebles made his quota of 4 tries for the game but we are not sure if he will play for the All Blacks or the Wallabies when he turns professional (don't forget Coach Short will you Moose). Jeremy Bloore scored 2 tries and Chance Hamon scored 1.
This weeks player of the match was Connor Peden.
Round 16 - Saturday 11th August Warnervale V Woy Woy Red (Forfeit)
Well with only 2 weeks to go and Woy Woy Red not fielding a full team all season this was only to be expected.
Not to be deterred, and with our boys keen to play football. We ran on to play 10mins against the under 8's while they waited for their team to turn up. Many thanks to the under 8's for giving our boy's a run. Some of our boy's were still keen for more football so they backed up for the under 8's (Connor Peden, Eligah Whitbread, Jeremy Bloore & Matt Martin)
The boy's did well scoring tries, making tackles and diving on the loose ball, it was a great chance for them to see what next season would be all about. The boy's held their own and showed the skill's that have kept them undefeated all season, well done boy's.
Round 18 - Saturday 18th August Warnervale 55 v Avoca 25
Today was the last match of the season and had us travelling to Avoca to play a full strength side. Once again the defence from our team was very strong with the tag count being lead by Matthew Peebles, Connor Peden, Matt Martin and Eli Whitbread. All the boys made tags and have come a long way this year and are looking forward to playing tackle next season.
The tries were pretty evenly spread throughout the team - Connor with 3, Matt Martin and Matt Peebles with 2 each and Eli, Ben, Jeremy and Chance with 1 each. Zac Head and Jamie Leota had some good runs with the ball and are showing more confidence with each game. What more can I say but see you all next year.
This weeks Player of the Day went to Elijah Whitbread

Saturday 21st April - Warnervale vs The Entrance (home game)
Finally! We got to play our first game of the season. A full strength Wildcats team showed up early, ready to play and full of enthusiasm and looked great in their new jerseys thanks to the sponsors. Unfortunately, The Entrance only had 7 players to field so our boys had to take turns in having a rest on the sideline.
The game started well for us with a couple of quick tries. The boys lost their direction in the middle of the game, being their first game on the full size (8s) field and having a referee. At training we have been practicing clearing out, the offside rule and passing backwards. The game got a little messy in the front line with the piggies unable to make clear ground and by some decisions that went against them. Our backline worked hard as the Entrance had some speedsters that continually attacked up the sideline. We had some outstanding performances but we know this is of off the back of hard work by the whole team.
The final score is in question, We had it as a draw and the Entrance had themselves winning by one, but really the important thing was the boys had a good time and the coaches and parents couldn’t be prouder of them. Both coaches are very impressed and can see where we need to improve. We are also very impressed with the team and club spirit (cheering the under nines onto the field) displayed by the mighty under 8s. Remembering our motto “we win and lose as a TEAM”. GO THE MIGHTY UNDER 8s
5th May 2007, Warnervale Vs Woy Woy under eights at Ettalong
Today we had an away game which saw all 11 players show up early to warm up and talk strategy, the boys were eager and the parents happy for a nine o’clock start! The performance by the boys today can only be described as dominating, from the start the boys constructed phase after phase of team orientated rugby. It was great to see every player get involved with the piggies continuously driving forward and the backs showing great skill in attack. The passing between the boys and the support play displayed was fantastic. The clearing out and placing the ball back for quick play was at a level well above 7 and 8 year olds. The end result was a win to the wildcats 50 to 10. It was hard to see who had the biggest smiles, the players, the parents or the coaches. Keep up the hard work boys it was a joy to watch this game. Thank you to the parents for your wonderful and enthusiastic support.
Remember we win and lose as a TEAM. Go the mighty under 8’s
12th May 2007 Warnervale Under 8s Vs Avoca Beach
This week we had a home game and as usual all the boys showed up early to warm up. We saw the Avoca team and thought they were the under 9s due to their size, but they were the under 8s. This just made the boys even more determined!
The game started with the piggies working hard and making some very hard hitting tackles which put the Avoca forwards off their game. The Avoca team were very good at stealing the ball from us and we will have to train hard on ball security and placing the ball back. The Avoca team continued to make strong attacks at our defence and the boys had to step up their defensive skills to stop them. The whole team, especially the backs impressed all with their defensive prowess with many spectacular tackles being made and all the boys refusing to give in. The game entertained all with more than one parent losing their voice
Well done boys! a very hard, testing game which made the win even more satisfying, the end result was Warnervale 20, Avoca Beach 15. Keep up the excellent work boys, Remember “We win and lose as a TEAM” Go the mighty Under 8s
19th May 2007, Warnervale under 8s Vs Terrigal (The Haven)
Today the mighty under 8s travelled to the Haven at Terrigal, again all the boys showed up early to warm up and talk strategy. The under eights were clapped onto the field by the under sevens, showing good club spirit. The Terrigal side had a reputation as a hard team to beat, especially at home.
The wildcats kicked of and from the start dominated, our piggies showed no fear in continually attacking the Terrigal line, with good clearing out and making massive metres up the middle. The pick and drive shown by the piggies was impressive. The backs again showed that they are best going around with some excellent running and impressive trys. In defence Terrigal attempted to attack up the middle with their forwards but were continually stopped in their tracks, when they went wide with speed our backline was set and waiting, either stealing the ball or pushing Terrigal over the side line. The boys played unselfishly and showed great team spirit with continued support for each other. The ripping of the ball and placing the ball back was good with the tackling and hard defence a highlight of the game. Again this game was a pleasure to watch with well constructed phase ball, well done boys. Thank you to the parents for your efforts and support and also to the under 7s who backed up for a run.
The result was the mighty under 8 Wildcats 40, Terrigal 0.
Remember “WE WIN AND LOSE AS A TEAM”
26th May 2007 Warnervale under eights Vs The Entrance

Today again saw all the boys show for a game of rugby, unfortunately The Entrance could only manage 6 players, this made the boys rethink the game plan. With only 6 players on the pitch and 5 reserves the game plan was to run and run and run and when you got tired have a break and let some new legs do the running.
The game couldn’t be described as typical rugby but the boys adapted to it and what has become the norm, excelled at it. The mighty under 8s where unstoppable with an excellent running and passing game, the boys showed urgency in getting the ball and repeatedly (through ripping or overpowering ruck and mauls) got the ball off the Entrance.
The defence was again impressive with no metres made up the middle by the Entrance and the sliding defence repeatedly repelling The Entrance attack. Again, the coaches had big smiles and enjoyed watching the boy’s show why they are the best going.
Thank you to the dads that showed up early to help set up the field, and also a mention has to go to the quality of the refereeing in what must be described as “professional”.
The end result was another victory to the mighty under 8 wildcats, Warnervale 85, The Entrance 15.
Remember “We win and lose as a team” see you at training on Tuesday!
2nd June 2007 Warnervale Wildcat 8s Vs Avoca (Heazlett Park)
Today saw another great turnout by the under 8s and we also had two under 7s backup and help (great club spirit). Avoca could only manage to field 9 players. The game stated with the referee making very technical decisions? That had the coaches scratching their heads, and he was also wearing very nice Avoca coloured socks.
Our boys didn’t get any momentum going as the Avoca team where constantly on top of us and this affected the way the boys played. What we have become known for went out the window and we did not play to our game plan. Avoca was very good at stealing our ball and making the most of it. The boys got frustrated and forgot to play as a team, with passing the ball and clearing out almost non-existent. The boys tried to score individual tries every time they touched the ball which doesn’t create too many scoring opportunities and more often then not it resulted in us losing the ball. By far our worst performance BUT what has come out of it is that we have learnt that we have to work hard as a team to win games. We are definitely a better team than Avoca and can beat them easily if we work as a team and concentrate on support play, good phase ball, clearing out, ball security, passing and our normal rock solid defence. Keep your head high boys even though we lost you showed great spirit and sportsmanship under adverse conditions.
The coaches are very proud of the mighty under 8s and next week we WILL be back to our best.
The final score was the mighty Warnervale Wildcats 10, Avoca 20.
Remember boys “We win and lose as a TEAM”
23rd June 2007 Warnervale Under 8s Vs Ourimbah (ORP)
Finally the wet weather stopped long enough for the mighty under 8s to get onto the paddock. Today saw the boys show up early at a very cold and frosty rugby park. There was lots of warm up due to the cold and lack of game time recently. Ourimbah could only field 6 players which left us with 5 reserves which wasn’t too bad as a few of our boys where struggling with the flu.
The game was very messy (both in game structure and with the amount of the paddock the boys took home with them) with the boys forgetting some of the fundamentals they have become known for, but the pure class of the mighty under 8s shone threw and the boys started to pile on the points. The game showed that the U8s are a great attacking team and also very strong in defence. This was a good game for the boys to get rid of some cobwebs.
It was great to see the team spirit shown by the boys and their parents with all in attendance again showing what a great future the Warnervale club will have, thank you.
The finale score was The mighty Warnervale Wildcats U8s 70, Ourimbah U8s 20. Remember, We win and lose as a TEAM!
June 30th 2007, The mighty Wildcats under 8s Vs Terrigal (Kariong reserve)
Thankfully the rain held off for the boys to get out onto the paddock for a run. As usual there was a great turnout nice and early for warm-up and the all important game plan talk. The boys were highly motivated. Again the opposition could only field 8 players so we had some reserves ready to go. The game started exactly the way we like it with a try. The boys were absolutely incredible in defence not allowing Terrigal any room to move and when Terrigal did manage to make a break, the mighty wildcats scrambling defence shut it down with some spectacular tackles made. Our attack is lacking at the moment with the boys needing to work a lot harder in clearing out, supporting each other and ball security. We will be able to work on this once the weather holds out and allows us to train again.
Again the boys have put big smiles on the coaches faces with a great effort. Rumour has it that the Wallabies heard about the mighty Wildcat Under 8s’ magnificent victory, and this inspired them to beat the not so mighty all blacks. The Final result, The mighty Wildcat Under 8s’ 25, Terrigal 0. Remember “ We win and lose as a TEAM”
7th of July 2007 Warnervale U8s’ Vs The Entrance U8s’
Today we had an early kick off and what has become the norm The Entrance could only field 6 players with 1 extra showing up at half time.
The Entrance side have improved dramatically since we last played them with both sides even at the half time break. The mighty Warnervale under 8s’ came out in the second half and stepped up the pressure, The team worked improved with the boys supporting each other, clearing out, passing well and working hard at the pick and drive, this had an immediate effect with the wildcats going a few tries in front. This was a close game with the difference being the exceptional defence that the mighty under 8 Wildcats have become known for with good, hard, rock solid tackles with a couple of stand out try saving tackles made.
This game was a hard one which tested the boys, with their spirit and tenacity shining through and seeing them come out of the game with a well earned victory.
The mighty Wildcat Under 8s’ 45, The Entrance 30
Thankyou to the fathers that showed up early and helped out with the field set-up, this shows the boys good club spirit and is vital for the running of the club. Also a big thankyou to Jason Walker for refereeing.
Remember “We Win and lose as a Team”
14th July 2007, Warnervale Vs’ Avoca (Warnervale Oval)
This was the game that we have been waiting for, Avoca are the only team to have beaten the mighty Warnervale under 8s’, so we had a point to prove. Warnervale started the game with a couple of quick tries and were looking pretty good but the boys relaxed a little and Avoca stole back a couple of tries. The well known defence of the Mighty wildcats faltered and Avoca was allowed to go 1 try ahead. Our attack and defence was not as good as usual and the game became very scrappy. The mighty wildcats pounced onto a loose ball and scored a try to level things up at half time.
Halftime saw an inspirational talk from the coach (and a threat of the fairy award) and the boys came out firing. Our defence and attack were back to normal and the mighty wildcats began to destroy the Avoca game. The Avoca team tried to break the line but were turned away repeatedly and the boys started working as a team in attack which resulted in 8 unanswered tries to Warnervale in the second half. The mighty under 8s’ were on fire and showed everyone that Warnervale Under 8s’ are the best team around and deserve to be at the top of the table.
Thank you to all the parents for your ongoing support, its great to see all players constantly show up at training and game day. Final Score Warnervale 55 – Avoca 15.
Remember: “We Win and Lose as a Team”
GO THE MIGHTY WARNERVALE WILDCAT UNDER 8s’ You are the best
21st July 2002, Mighty Warnerval U8s Vs Woy Woy (Warnervale Oval)
As usual the mighty Warnervale U8s all showed up early and got into the warm up, WoyWoy had nine players so we were looking forward to almost a full team run. The game started with some messy play by Warnervale and Woy Woy took the opportunity and put some tries on the board. The boys didn’t work as a team and again we fell into the trap of trying to score every time we got the ball and as we know that doesn’t lead to good rugby. Our tackling faltered today with us letting WoyWoy run and not getting up on them in defence, this allowed WoyWoy to dominate the play and keep the boys on the back foot. The Wildcats just couldn’t get into the game today and didn’t seem excited about getting hold of the ball, even in attack we went backwards.
Today saw a very scrappy game and the U8s not playing to their usual brilliance. The end result saw the Woy Woy boys get a very well deserved win. I think we are a better team but we were outplayed by an improved WoyWoy team. But, we know what we have to work on at training and are excited about the next game. The end result Warnervale 10, WoyWoy 15.
Remember boys “We win and lose as a team”
28th July 2007, Warnervale Wildcats U8’s Vs Ourimbah (Warnervale Oval)
Today all the boys were at the oval early for their team photo, they all looked really good, it was a pity the coaches didn’t scrub up as good as the boys. Due to the photo we had a lot of time to warm the boys up and didn’t it pay off. The mighty under 8’s came into the game fired up and ready. The boys played a great game of rugby, with the forwards making massive metres up the middle with well constructed pick and drive keeping the opposition on the back foot. When the ball went out to the backs they made the most of it running circles around Ourimbah. It was very pleasing to see the boys do all the little things right and play unselfishly, not trying to score every time they touched the ball but worked as a team with some spectacular passing setting up some inspirational tries.
Ourimbah had improved from the last game but our defence was strong with the boys making it very hard for Ourimbah to make any ground. The big improvements for the mighty under 8’s were the tackling, the cleaning out, the pick and drive, the passing and support play. Well done boys it was a great game to watch, you guys are a team.
The result The Mighty Warnervale Under 8’s 40, Ourimbah 20
Remember boys “We win and lose as a TEAM”
4th August 2007 - Warnervale Wildcats U8s’ V’s Terrigal (The Haven)
WOW what a game, the mighty under 8’s were on fire. The boys played very impressive rugby today. They played as a team, doing all the basics right and working hard all game. It’s hard to describe the best part of the game because the whole game was impressive with all the boys doing their bit for the team. The tackling from the boys was good; the running was hard with great backing up and support play, but if I had to pick the best part it would be the cleaning out and passing. We have been practicing this at training and it has certainly paid off with some of the cleaning out suitable for the under 15’s. The boys played so good that after the game I had complete strangers come up to me to comment on how good the boys are. YES, one very proud coach here! Well done boys.
The final score was the Mighty Warnervale Wildcats U8’s 60 – Terrigal 5
Remember “We win and lose as a TEAM”
11th August 2007, Warnervale Wildcats U8’s V’s The Entrance
Today saw the boys show up really early for the warm-up, unfortunately the under 7s’ didn’t have any opposition to play against so we combined the U8’s & U7’s to form a junior barbarian team. The Entrance could only field 5 players and we had to also play on the smaller field, but the boys adapted to changes and showed great team and club spirit by combining to run over the top of the Entrance. The game can’t be described as typical Rugby with only 5 players per team but the boys enjoyed themselves and the teams clapped each other off the field.
The final score was Warnervale U7’s/U8’s Barbarian team 110 to The Entrance 25.

2nd June 2007 Warnervale vs Avoca
Again the boys put up an awesome effort in defence, but in the end Avoca was too good putting up 12 tries to our one. We only had 8 boys turn up, so had no spares. They all did their best and the fitness work was starting to pay off as they lifted their game in the second half.
Marcus and Alex were raging though the middle of Avoca, while Pete, AJ and Zach each had some good runs. Angus is now getting the hang of running forward and is liking the role as 'the link' between forwards and backs.
Jack as per usual took on the big guys and never looked like backing down. Jas was the only try scorer. Touching down from over half way.
Well done boys
7th July 2007 Warnervale Under 9's
We again came runners up, but there was two tries scored by the team with the biggest heart. One by the flying Angus with the support of the team. But the biggest achievement was a 9 phase push over try that was scored by Alexander. I was told that every one of the boys were pushing him over the try line. Excellent effort given by everyone that turned up.
Watch out next week at home with nearly all the boys back from holiday should see more tries from the boys.
Keep up the excellent work guys.
Jackie.
14th July 2007 Warnervale Under 9's
Avoca came and we were again beaten. But none the less our team showed signs of great promise. They are now starting to put the 'clean out' training into action, and when they do this the are unstoppable. They just need to be able to do this for the whole game and not just 2 minutes. When they remembered what to do, they turned over Avoca ball, cleaned out and this allowed Marcus to dot down for Warnervale's only try of the day.
Alexander coped a few swinging arms but fought off the tears and keep getting back into the game. Jack needs to be commended for never giving up, he chases the other team down and will not stop until they have. Zach and Tom are on the constant improve and they played vital roles in the score. Jason stopped three tries, and had a few great runs.
AJ now gets low and gets his man - excellent effort. As for Pete, he is the smallest on the paddock, but has the biggest heart. He takes on the big or the small it doesn't seem to matter to him
All in all the boys did great. Hopefully a few more tries this weekend will boost their confidence even more.
Round 15 - Saturday 21st July Warnervale 2 V Woy Woy 10
Wow!!!. What a game. Arguably the best the boys have played this year. Ok we came second again but we held Woy Woy to 6-2 until 5-10 min before full time Then as we have no subs the boys were tired and let another 4 tries in for the score to end at 10-2.
Tom played his best game of the season. He was heavily involved in some awesome tackling and then topped it off with an great try. Alexander scored our second in true Alexander style. Going forward and taking no prisoners. Angus and Jason had some excellent runs, and Jason's defence was again excellent. Jordan got his hands to the most ball he has touched all season. Pete jumped what seemed to be 10 feet in the air to claim loose ball, and again took on both the big and the small. AJ was doing great cleaning out and was making good yards with his running an great placing of the ball. He even had a go at the 'big' kid in the Woy Woy team without even blinking an eye. Marcus has a blinder. Took a few hard knocks, but came back each time more determined to break the line and make a good run up the field. Jack and Zach got in there and helped at every breakdown. When the boys came from the field you would have thought that we had won. The parents support for the excellent game was topped by three cheers of well done for the boys. All parents joined to express their admiration at the big hearts and determination of a bunch of kids that do not know the meaning of giving up. Well done team you did yourselves proud!!!
Round 16 - Saturday 28th July Warnervale lost to Ourimbah
Today we came up against Ourimbah who had 12 players to take on the 8 that we had. So again we had no spares and all the boys had to play the full game. We got three tries this week. Our best attacking effort all season.
It was a game of two halves. The first half saw Ourimbah get away from us, scoring what seemed to be 6-7 unanswered tries. Then Jason managed a great run to dot down for our first. Well done Jason!!. This raised the boys spirits showing them they can do it!! Ourimbah then got some more easy tries before half time. So at half time Tim laid down a challenge for our boys - 'go get two more tries and he will shout them a can of drink each'. This was just the incentive that they needed as two more tries were scored, one by Tom and one by Marcus. Both were excellent tries. It was these two tries that defined the second half as Ourimbah could also only get two. So all in all a great improvement.
Alex and Marcus were again brilliant in attack. Tom and Zach got stuck in and had great games. AJ and Pete played well with each of them not wanting to hold back on the bigger players that the opposition came with.
Jason and Jack were constantly chasing the runners and refused to give up the chase. This led to what I have to say was the funniest and yet most rewarding part of the game. Ourimbah had a boy going for a half field run away try. This young man raised a triumphant hand in the air as he was running, he did a few happy skips and then did the big jump and score. The only problem was that he jumped early and missed the line. As Jack was doing what Jack does best, Jack picked up the ball and ran back up the field while we were all trying to let our boys know that no try was scored. Big lesson for all in this one. Well done Jack!! The show off from Ourimbah only has tears left to show for his display.
Marcus has now let us all know that we should be aiming for 5-6 tries next week. Could be a big ask, but great to see the spirits of this team still flying high amongst another defeat. Again well done team.
Round 17 - Saturday 4th August - Warnervale just lost to Terrigal
I know that I sound like a stuck record, but this was definitely the best combined effort by the boys for the whole season without a doubt.
Coming up against Terrigal at home was always going to be a daunting task. Previous matches had seen us score 1-2 to their 15-20. But not this week.
Half time score Terrigal 3 Warnervale 1
Full Time score Terrigal 4 Warnervale 3
In short we lost the game but won the second half. Yeah go boys!!!
Player of the match went to everyone as they all put in a huge effort, and worked well together.
Try scorers were Marcus and Alex and a player helping out from Terrigal in the second half.
Marcus and Alex were both determined to push up the middle making valuable ground. I have never seen Jordan play so good. He got in there playing his best game ever. AJ got his hand to the ball on numerous occasions, and managed to pass to ball well.
Zach turned on the 'bulldozer' mentality and had a blinder. Jack was into everything again. Even after getting a huge knock to the head, he got back up and went on to play anther great game. Pete got in there and proved again that he can mix it with the big and the small. Jason got close to scoring twice, and had to be the best tackler of the game. Angus missed out by millimetre on scoring, so close. He also had a great game. The boys keep this up and there is a real chance that we can win one before the end of the season. Again well done boys, excellent effort.
Round 17 - Saturday 11th August - Warnervale lost to Gosford

The second to last game of the season placed us up against Gosford who again got away with far too many high shots. This unfortunately took the stuffing out of our boys and they went down in a heap, but not before Marcus was able to get two fantastic tries.
Jason was again outstanding in both defence and attack. He really manages to get around the field, just need to get him to dive on the boys he is chasing down. Jack again was great in defence. AJ did well.
Alex had a few great runs through the middle of Gosford. Angus now definitely has his feet facing forward and seems to be running that way when given a chance. Little Pete is such a trooper - cannot top his efforts. Tom although forgot his puffer, was still able to charge through and make ground. Well done boys, just need to remember to tackle legs not pull shirts. Should be back to full strength next week, and ready for the biggest effort of the year
Round 18 - Saturday 18th August
The last game saw another excellent effort from the boys. Jason managed an excellent individual try and was again excellent in defence. Marcus lead the boys in what must be the slowest try in history. He held the ball in a tackle and did not go to ground the whole rest of the team backed him up and drove forward at an inch a minute. It was only the parents screaming 'put the ball down you are over the line' that allowed him to let go and get our second try.
Alex was all steam ahead in attack and great in defence. Jack again was trying hard and never gave up the chase. Angus managed to do a lot of forward running. Jordon had a great game was getting in there. Pete copped a few big tackles but keep going strong. Tom had a blinder. He was ripping opposition ball all game. Zach made good ground and has his best game. AJ also had his best game. He got in there with some great tackling. Well done boys. The only down side to the game was the reffing. Jason coped an eye gauge in front of the ref and the ref did not see it. The same kid that did the eye gauging went on to add kicking, lifting legs and punching to his list of offences, but was not penalised for it. A bad end to a great game

Round 2 - April 14 2007
Vs Avoca Lost 41-7
Our first game of the 2007 season and our first real game on the “big field”! The boys are still getting used to having so much room and were still bunching up in the middle of the paddock, a result of the last few seasons on such a small field.
Avoca had a good passing game and had lots of pace so we need to concentrate on our fitness level this year so we can make use of the full field and beat them next time we meet !!
Our first try of the season went to Kelly who also made some great tackles. Well done Kelly. Our first successful conversion came from Rob who also made some great breaks and was unlucky not to score more than once. A good try saving tackle was made by Mackenzie along with a couple of good breaks up the middle and Tayne as always, showed great determination and kept up with lots of on field talking.
A special mention to Alan, Marcus, Cameron and Jason from the under 9’s who backed up for us. Thanks boys for helping us out, you all went really well. Well done also to Sam and Michael who played their first official Rugby game with our team/Club. Thanks also to Rob and Allan for preparing the boys for the season and passing on their expertise, both the parents and boys really appreciate the time and effort you give them.
2007 is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever!! Ourimbah next week on their home turf, lets show them what we can do boys!

Ourimbah 56-Warnervale 12
This wasn’t the result we were hoping for and the score doesn’t reflect our true performance. There were moments when the boys gained momentum and had the supporters jumping up and down, showing us what they can do when they work together!! Our first half was good but the second half is when Ourimbah really tested our defence and scored most of their points. We will just have to mark this one down to experience and make sure we learn from it. Serious training this weeks boys, holidays are over!!
Our Player of the Match and 3 points went to Tayne. Tayne was involved from the first kick and was always there to take the ball and support his team mates. He made some great breaks through the Ourimbah pack and some gutsy tackles showing that size doesn’t matter! Great game Tayne!!
2 points went to Brad who was solid in both defence and attack. Brad made some great runs up the sideline and was unlucky not to have scored, better luck next week Brad!
1 point went to Mackenzie who attacked well, stepping his way through the Ourimbah defence to come up with 1 of our tries.
Our Weekly Encouragement Award went to Jack Molyneaux who played his first official game with us, well done Jack!
We have a home game next week against Gosford, Go Wildcats!!

5/5/07 : WARNERVALE 12-WOY WOY 10
Our first win of the season, well done boys!! I don’t know who was more excited, the coaches or the boys!!
Even though we were one player down, and a few positions were shuffled around, the boys took the field and looked good from the start. The under 9’s helped us out again and an early try and successful conversion from Rob gave our boys the confidence they needed.
Woy Woy scored before half time but were unsuccessful in converting the try and at half time we led by 2 points. Woy Woy slipped through with another try in the second half to put us behind again but were again unsuccessful in converting. The boys all worked hard and Rob went in for his second try of the game to put us back in the lead. All that work on our drop kicking the last few weeks has paid off and was the deciding factor in the game!!
Player of the day and 3 points went to Rob for putting his body on the line more than once with some great tackles and 2 well deserved tries, well done Rob.
Brad earned 2 points with his speedy runs up the sideline, and 1 point each went to 2 of our hardworking forwards Cameron and Jack Molyneaux.
A special thank you to Cameron, Marcus and Angus from the Under 9’s who backed up for us, thanks boys! Donna Leighton

12/5/07 Warnervale 5 vs Terrigal 27
Unfortunately our winning streak didn’t continue for the mums this week but we are only early into the season! The boys could have had this one but our team work let us down. The Terrigal coach insisted on uncontested scrums, this in turn led to confusion & frustration among our forward pack. Our boys have to learn to direct their anger and frustrations out on the opposition rather than cause unrest amongst themselves, once they really start working as a team they will be surprised at how well they can do! Let’s work together boys and see what you can do. Our single try was scored by Rob who is unstoppable when in the clear & Mackenzie’s attempt at the conversion just missed when the ball hit the crossbar!
Player of the week and 3 points went to Brad. Brad continues to play well each week and made some good fast breaks through the Terrigal defence, he was very unlucky to not score on a couple of occasions & we look forward to seeing him go over the line very soon!
2 points went to Kelly one of our forwards. He continues to defend week to week and if all the boys could tackle like Kelly we would be unstoppable!
1 point was awarded to Michael who is a quick and enthusiastic player, well done Michael for some great runs up the field, another one we look forward to crossing the try line soon.
Our well deserved recipient of our Encouragement Award was Matt. Matt is improving every week and we can see how much he enjoys his Rugby. Keep up the good work Matt.
Thank you to the Mums and Dads who volunteered their time to help out in the canteen van and on the BBQ. The club really appreciates your efforts and I think we can all say that the 10’s put in a fine effort on Saturday. To the parents who were disappointed at missing out, there are still a few opportunities left this season to have your turn!
We travel to the Haven this week and meet Terrigal again, lets shock them this week and show them what we can really do boys!
Thanks for your support. Donna Leighton Manager Under 10’s
19/5/07 Warnervale 26 vs Terrigal 25

This has to be the win of the season!! This same team defeated us only last week by 22 points & I don’t think they knew what hit them!! To say we caught them by surprise would be an understatement. Each & every player gave 100% & should be very proud of the team effort & the fact that they played hard for the whole 40 minutes. The forwards have benefited from a few extra training sessions & were a much improved pack, making sure they got down low in the mauls to push hard through the Terrigal defence. Well done boys.
Once Terrigal started to score points, the boys decided to get serious & play catch up. Our defence was a big improvement on previous weeks & Rob was in brilliant form scoring all of our four tries. They were all length of the field & he was deservedly named our Player of the Match. His most spectacular try was as a result of a loose Terrigal ball. The Terrigal player didn’t know what had happened when Rob caught it off the bounce & took off to score!! Even though both teams had scored 4 tries each, we were in front 26-20. Mackenzie had successfully converted 3 from 3 where Terrigal had failed to convert any of their tries. This proved to be an important factor in the game when Terrigal scored a late try in the final minutes & knew they had to successfully convert to take the lead. The conversion was unsuccessful & we held the lead by 1 point!! The boys did a great job staying calm right up to the final whistle (unlike the sideline supporters!!). Thanks again to Marcus from the under 9’s for backing up for us & congratulations to the whole team who each earned 3 points this week for their performances. Their sweetest reward of all however was the fact that we had beaten Terrigal!! Go the mighty Wildcats!! Donna Leighton

26/5/07 : Warnervale 5 vs Gosford 22
A disappointing loss for the team, considering our brilliant performance & win last week. I think we were still a bit star struck!! We ran on to the field as the stronger team, Gosford were yet to win a game this season, but our team work let us down. Boys, you need to support each other in both attack & defence. If one of our players makes a break, FOLLOW & SUPPORT HIM. There were times in our game this week that we made a break but lost the ball to Gosford either because there was no one there to receive a pass, or no one to release the ball to when he had been tackled. We know you can do it boys, we have seen it!!
Pete made a couple of good strong runs up the middle & was able to offload the ball which resulted in our only try this week. There was some good passing involved in this try to Rob, & showed just what the boys can do when they put their minds to it.
Player of the day & our 3 points this week, went to Matt who worked hard all game. Matt’s game is improving each week & he was always there to clean up the ball & made some good runs. Well done Matt keep up the good work!
We travel to Avoca on Saturday, lets hope the sea air is just what we need to put another win on the board. Donna Leighton

2/6/07: Warnervale 15 vs Avoca 53
It seems as though the sea air & travel didn’t agree with us this week & reflected in the score. The game was very physical & a few of our boys came off second best. Avoca started strong & once they began to score points it was hard for our boys to play catch up. To their credit our boys didn’t give up & got it together in the last 10 minutes. We shocked Avoca when we went in for 3 late tries in quick succession, had we played like this in the first few minutes of the game it could have been a totally different story!
Some good defence from Brad who received our Encouragement Award this week. Brad well & truly put his body on the line when he tackled one of Avoca’s big boys & in return had his head slammed into the ground! Another solid performance from Rob who made a try saving tackle & scored one of our tries.
Player of the match & 3 points went to Mackenzie. Mackenzie didn’t give up, chasing the opposition right to the try line & after some good strong runs was rewarded with a length of the field try.
2 points went to Kelly who was outstanding in the forwards & 1 point was awarded to Tayne for another gutsy effort. The game had to be stopped when he came off second best in a high tackle & not long after this he scored his first try of the season!
Thanks again to Marcus & Angus from the Under 9’s for helping us out.
No game this week due to the long weekend, lets hope the weeks rest & a change in training venue can make a difference when we make the trek to Woy Woy the following week.

23/6/07 Warnervale 0 – Ourimbah 56
Our first game after 2 weeks without training or a game, & the boys were pretty keen to be finally able to play some Rugby! The score isn’t a true reflection of their performance. We had some referee decisions go against us but the boys didn’t give up & there was good Rugby being played by both sides.
Our forwards played their best game of the year, their determination in the scrum was brilliant & they made it impossible for Ourimbah to win the ball! Lots of practice & hard work has paid off & they should be really proud of their game. Rob & Allan have put a lot of work into the training sessions with both the forwards & the backs & it’s great to see the boys put it all together. The backline showed they had been listening at training as well by perfectly executing a practiced move across the field, it didn’t quite have the desired result but looked great!!
Pete was the driving force behind the forwards & his individual performance was his best for the year. He was a force to be reckoned with in both defence & attack & was deservedly awarded our Player of the Day & 3 points. Kelly was once again solid in defence & made some fantastic tackles earning 2 points for his performance. Michael was awarded 1 point for his performance, Michael is our quiet achiever & very hard to catch when in the clear, it won’t be long before we see him cross the line for a try!
Thanks go to Patrick from Under 8’s who helped us out & Marcus from the Under 9’s who is a regular part of our back up team & was very close to scoring a try for us, well done Marcus you’re doing a great job!

Warnervale 5 vs Terrigal 75
The most disappointing aspect of this game was that the boys have been one of only 2 teams who have beaten this Terrigal side & know that once Terrigal are under a bit of pressure they could be beaten again. If there was to be only one more win for us this year we wanted it to be against this teaml! Not to be this week. Our boys just didn’t put the effort in & stood back & watched as Terrigal crossed the try line again & again & again! The boy's faces after the game said it all & they will just have to chalk this one down to experience. Winning isn’t everything but there has to be a bigger effort put in from the team as a whole to make sure they don’t have another result like this week.
On a positive note, Michael scored his first try of the season this week & earned himself 3 points for a consistent effort all game. Michael’s pace on the wing was too quick for the Terrigal defence & saved us from a zero score.
Kelly also had a good game this week & earned 3 points. As usual, he was persistant in defence & managed some great tackles under the pressure.
Well done to both of the boys for their effort.
Thanks also to those Dads who turned up early to set up the fields.

WARNERVALE 15 vs AVOCA 15
This week the boys played more as a team & the result speaks for itself. This Avoca side has beaten us convincingly in our previous clashes & to draw with them was a fantastic result. The boys should be proud of their game today & see what they can do when they stay positive & don’t give up. Our defence this week was much better with some great tackling which kept the Avoca team from going over more than they did. The game was tough & physical but the boys didn’t let the blood, cramps or injuries keep them down & soldiered on!!
A gutsy effort once again from Tayne who received the Player of the Day award & 3 points. Tayne plays hard & tough each week & I’m sure at times forgets the fact that he is half the size of most of the opposition!
Pete received 2 points for a great effort in both defence & attack this week & was rewarded with his first try of the season. Pete drove the ball towards the line on numerous occasions & it was only a matter of time before we would see him use his size to cross over the try line. Well done Pete.
Rob received 1 point this week for another great effort in both attack & defence. Rob scored a try & kicked well, just missing a successful conversion. Most of his breaks are length of the field & if the rest of the team supported him & ran alongside him we would have seen more tries today.
Another home game next week so let’s keep the momentum going!!
A big thank you to the parents for helping out in Canteen/BBQ, in particular the Dads who stayed longer than required, it was much appreciated!

Congratulations to the boys on our first win since May, well done boys!! This was the confidence boost the team needed & the excitement on the boys faces & the way they celebrated the win as a team was great to see, quite a relief for the coaches & parents as well!
Player of the day & 3 points went to Kelly. Kelly is strong in defence week after week & managed to score this week as well, his second try in as many weeks, well done!!
2 points went to our big forward Jake for another great effort. Jake has really started using his weight to plough through the opposition towards the try line & we would all love to see him go right through them next week for a try.
1 point awarded to Rob for his continual persistence in chasing the ball, numerous length of the field runs & his great defence. Encouragement award this week went to Antonio our newest recruit, welcome Antonio!!
Tries this week to Kelly (1), Tayne (1) & Rob (1). 1 successful conversion to Brad.

Despite the loss, this was a good result against a side that has beaten us convincingly twice this season. The boys played well as a team & made the game an exciting one to watch. This week the tackling was much better & the boys seemed to have the confidence they have lacked in previous games. The boys have been training well & all the hard work from Rob, Allan & the boys has paid off!
3 points & Player of the Match this week went to Mackenzie who made some exciting runs through the oppositions defence & worked hard all game.
2 points went to the remainder of the players for some great team work & the Encouragement award went to Brad for his effort this week.
Tries this week to Kelly (1) & Rob (1), & successful conversions to Rob (1) & Mackenzie (1).

We all took the long trek down to Terrigal hoping that history would repeat itself and that we would again beat this team on their own turf. What a sweet victory that would have been!! Not to be this week and as the score suggests our defence wasn’t strong enough to keep Terrigal from scoring. There’s always next year boys!!
A couple of great tries for us thanks to Rob and Mackenzie but unfortunately we couldn’t convert them.
Player of the Match and 3 points went to Tayne for another 40 minutes of constant determination and hard work, 2 points to Kelly for another great defensive game and 1 point to our newest member Antonio who has shown to be a great find late in the season. Encouragement award went to Matt. Well done boys.

WARNERVALE 12 vs GOSFORD 25
A much better result than our last clash with this team, the boys have really improved over the last few weeks and the scores have been much closer than in the first half of the competition.
Our defence was good to start but we let Gosford run to us rather than take them head on, by half time we were behind on the scoreboard. We had to play catch up in the second half which is always a challenge, even though our defence wasn’t as good the first half, the boys put in a big effort but time was against us & we couldn’t score the extra points we needed.
Player of the Match & 3 points went to Jack M on his last game of the season with us. Jack is a quiet achiever & works hard in the forwards each game he plays & we look forward to having him with us again next season. 2 points to Rob for another tough performance, & 1 point to Kelly for his big effort in the forwards.
Try scorers were Kelly (as a result of Pete’s hard work to get to the line!!) & Rob, who is unstoppable when on the run. One successful conversion to Mackenzie.
One game left boys, lets take Avoca by surprise and finish off with a big one!!

Even though we didn’t win the match, the boys all put in 100% & left the field knowing they had done their best. Nothing like leaving the best until last!!
The game was very physical & the boys defended well with some great tackling & lots of determination. Avoca had a sneak preview of what to expect next season & won’t take us lightly after this last effort!! The boys’ good performance was even noted by the opposing Coach who paid compliment to the teams’ effort & performance after the match. Well done boys!!
Player of the match & 3 Points went to Kelly for a huge effort, Kelly really put his body on the line & had Avoca targeting him as a threat. 2 points went to Mackenzie who had a great game & pulled off some great tackles. 1 point to Brad, again for some great tackling & a big effort once again.
Well done to Rob for one last spectacular try to end the season!!
It has been great over the last couple of games to watch the boys come together as a team & play well. The season has been a challenging one for them but they have learnt a lot & it will be exciting to see them develop both individually & as a team in the 2008 season.

Round 2 - April 14 2007
Warnervale 56 v Woy Woy 21
Well we started the season off with a win over Woy Woy – although it was a little disappointing when Woy Woy only turned up with 9 players with only 8 allowed to start … we had 20!!! Wade did some last minute reshuffling and we went on to have our first victory of the season, I must congratulate the boys as not one of them complained about the situation and especially to Wade. It can be very frustrating for a coach, and he arranged the boys in such a manner that they all had fair game play. All the same the boys played very well, with tries going James (3), Matt B (2), Owen (2), Ben (1), Dominic (1) and Nic (1). LeRoy, Nic and Austin all made one conversion making our score 56. All the boys received 3 points for playing so well. Next week we are playing one of the three Terrigal teams “Terrigal White” go the wildcats!!!!!
Round 3 - April 21 2007
Warnervale 0 v Terrigal White 50
This probably wasn’t the result we were hoping for, but the new Terrigal White team are not to be underestimated.
We missed a lot of tackles and when we did get the ball we couldn’t hold on to it!!! Unfortunately it was one of those games, we will put it behind us but take out what we can and learn by our mistakes. Not all was bad we have some gutsy little players coming out this year – with Clark having a great game earning him the 3 points this week, well done to Clark. Ben played a great game also getting the 2 points and Nic, Owen and Matt B got 1 point each for some good play – well done boys and chin up we are up against Terrigal Red next week, we can do it!!!!!
Thanks to all the parents for their continued support especially those parents that are doing such a wonderful job with the jersey washing!!!!
Cheers for now Leisa
Round 5 – Warnervale 67 – Kariong 15
The boys were very keen to play this week after having a wash-out round and then the bye they had heaps of enthusiasm and it showed!! With only a minute or two into the game Matt B’s first touch of the ball and he was off and into score, his first of four!!!
The boys were pumped!! For the first time this season the boys were playing some great rugby. They all had a great game but there is a couple I would like to mention one being big Damo making his first try and it was brilliant, it brought tears to my eyes seeing this guy plough through and planting the ball down on the ground… Well Done champ!! Another great try to Cody, using all his force and getting one down!! But it is not all about the try scorers, there were some great runs made on the day especially by Zinnie, TJ, Ben and Matty W they were on fire, and if it wasn’t for the likes of Davyyd and Matty F getting the ball out to these guys we wouldn’t have a score at all. There were also some great tackles made by Nic, LeRoy and Owen.
Well done boys our points this week were very hard to choose, they went to : - 3 points to Matt B, 2 points to Matt W & Damon, 1 point each to TJ and Cody
Round 6 – Warnervale 39 v’s Avoca 0
Our defense held up well against a much improved Avoca side who were very determined to put points on the board. All of the boys are improving each week, this week particularly Matt W who scored a great forwards try and set up another one immediately after.
Our 3,2,1’s went to Matt W 3, Dominic 2, and LeRoy & Bowen 1.
Great game boys, keep it up.
Round 7 – Warnervale 45 v’s Northlakes 5
A great result this week particularly in defense. Although we still have to work on knowing when to pass the ball at the right opportunity, several tries where lost through poor options.
Overall it was a good game and the boys showed a great effort and strength in the rucks and mauls.
Zinzan having a great game and getting our 3 points, also Cody & Ben with 2 points and LeRoy and Dom 1.
Well done boys.
Round 10 – Warnervale 26 v Woy Woy 10
With the long weekend break and a wash out round the boys were keen to get on the paddock, they were pretty confident this week of a big win but Woy Woy put on a good fight. Matt B got away with the ball a few times to score 2 tries, Owen also got away to get 2. Young Austin and Zinzan had a great game making a few breaks. We are up against Terrigal White next week.
Round 11 – Terrigal White 38 – Warnervale 19
Despite a loss this was an awesome game of Rugby!!! The boys were flogged last time these teams met back in round 2, we showed the White team that we aren’t a team to be taken for granted!! The boys showed some great ball play, with Jarryd and Damon using their force to fight them off, LeRoy and Nic making some awesome tackles, and again some great breaks by Matt B and Owen to put the points on the board. It isn’t just about the try scorers all the boys played a fantastic game it would be their best yet!! If they keep playing the way they did today, they will have a good chance for the finals. All the boys this week received 3 points as they are on fire!!!! GO WILDCATS!!!!
Round 12 – Warnervale 31 – Terrigal Red 24
Well I must say it is always good to get a win up against Terrigal!!!! This Terrigal side had only been beaten once before and that was to the team we lost to last week Terrigal White!!
The boys displayed an awesome fight with great breaks and determination. All the boys played well with some special mention to Matty F, who despite being half their size he was not afraid to have a go and pull them out of the field of play, well done Matty!! Davyyd made some great breaks as well as Nic proving in 2 tries. Some great ball play by Owen who set up a couple of tries and “The Tractor” proving his strength by scoring a very exciting try for us!!! Ben played the best rugby I have seen from this team he was cleaning out, getting away with the ball and making tackles where no one else was, the boys showed us that they can clean out and they can work well as a team, we just need to make the commitment and make those tackles and there will be no stopping us WILDCATS!! Well done boys you are making us proud. Points this week went to Davydd 1, Jarryd & Nic 2 and Ben M 3, well done boys you can have next Saturday off!!
Round 14 – Warnervale 46 v Kariong 5
It was worth braving the cold up on Kariong hill this week with the boys chalking up another win!!
The second half was certainly the better half, with the boys proving that they can play some serious rugby. Our big forwards Damo and “Tractor” made good use of their strength with Jarryd making his 2nd try in two games!! Great effort mate! Young Benny made some fantastic breaks and tackles, along with Dominic also making some great breaks resulting in a couple of tries. Also welcome back to young William who has been out with a non rugby related broken arm!! Good luck for the rest of the season.
Points this week went to LeRoy & Ben 1, Dominic & Owen 2 and Luke 3 who had an awesome game, well done!!!
Round 15 – Warnervale 53 v Avoca 10
This week the boys displayed some awesome rugby. They were presenting the ball and cleaning out well. Although the boys made most of the tackles, they did let a couple go through!! Resulting in Avoca’s 10 points!!
Benny made some great breaks, along with LeRoy, Zin & Matt B.
The boys are starting to really understand the game of rugby, they are learning the skills that Wade & Damon reinforce each week and their commitment is starting to show, our coaches put in so much effort week after week and it looks like it is starting to pay off!! We are very lucky to have the dedication and commitment from both our coaches and we do all appreciate it, thank you.
Points this week went to Bowen & Jarryd = 1,Dominic = 2 & Nic & Matt B. = 3, well done boys you are on fire!!!
ROUND 16 – Warnervale 46 – Northlakes 10
A great result this week with the boys earning themselves another win!!
Matty W and Ben made some dynamic charges through the Northlake pack. Luke and Zinzan made some great breaks, as did Matt B and Owen, but without the continued support of Austin we would have missed out on a couple of tries!! it is very important to keep up the support if there is no one there we lose possession.
There is no stopping our big fella!! Jarryd “Tractor” Anderson, he is on fire scoring yet another great forwards try!!
Points this week went to Matt B & Matt W = 1, Austin = 2 and Owen 3
Well done to all the boys they are playing awesome rugby it is great to see.

Coach Glen has a dilemma
What does a coach do when 10 of his squad is in the Under 12 Central Coast Representative side? He just does what he can.
It looks like the Wildcats will have to dig deep when the season starts, because nearly half of our squad will be involved with the Representative Calendar. A good problem to have, but the rest of the squad will really have to dig deep if there is a conflict of game days.
But Glen has absolute confidence with his squad, and it will be a wonderful opportunity for the balance of the squad to show just how much talent they have.

Check the colour of the socks in this photo. Out of the 8 players in this pic of the
Possible vs Probables trial game at Mount Penang, half of the players
are from the mighty Wildcats.
24th March 2007
A good hit out for the team. We were up against a good team from the Newcastle Waratahs, and the majority of their team were Under 13 players. Apparently they didn't have a full Under 12 side, so the mighty Wildcats played their Under 13 team instead.
The difference of one year in age really started to tell, but we came back with two good tries by Brenton Acreman and Ben Butler to give us a final score of three tries to two.
Well done boys, but it certainly shows that we have to show up to play every week, as the defending premiers everyone is going to be out to "beat the champs".
31st March 2007
This was the match when the team's potential was shown. Coach Glen has been concentrating on the ball recirculation at the breakdowns, and then rapid movement along the backs, and during this game
it actually happened.
It was nice to see the ball go into the rucks and mauls, and then come out on our side. It is most frustrating to watch the ball get turned over time and time again, but not during this match. Well done "piggies", keep this up and we will have another successful season.
The Newcastle Southern Beaches side played bravely, but some of the rampaging runs from our "crash ball man" James had them looking for cover.

U12’s – Warnervale Wildcats trounced Terrigal
If ever there was any doubt about who was the champion team for 2006 it was dispelled forever by the spectacular game played today by Warnervale Wildcats U12’s against the 2006 runners-up Terrigal.
The Wildcats played with skill and style to beat Terrigal 34-0! The score does not reflect the excellent game that Terrigal brought to the field; however the Wildcats outplayed them at every turn.
The whole team was heroes of the game, but special mention needs to be made of a few. James McKee had a real “crash ball game”, and scored two classy tries streaking away from Terrigal. Joshua Linton scored 1 try and converted his effort with an awesome left footed kick from the sideline. Keanu Ashwell pushed over the line to score his piece of glory while Ben Butler accelerated past the opposition to land the 5th try. The final try was scored by Jesse Weaver then ably converted by Cameron McNamara to bring the score to 34 to nil.
A special mention must also go to Robbie Hogan who demonstrated some outstanding ball skills and break away runs, setting up try opportunities that were brought home.
Although the tries were scored by a few, they could not have been achieved without the overall momentum and tactical execution delivered by every member of the team.
The forwards followed their game plan perfectly, gaining and keeping possession and set the aggressive tone for the day. The significant improvement in the passing skills of the backline enabled some superior line breaks, putting Terrigal on the back foot.
It was an unusually warm autumn day and the 15 players slogged it out for almost the entire game without breaks due to absent team members on holidays. The Wildcats had none of their usual reserves, and all players dug deep to battle through the heat and exhaustion.
We had four U11’s who volunteered to backup from their previous game and each got a taste of playing with a champion team. All four boys got onto the field for the final eight minutes, and each acquitted himself well. The excitement these lads had in their eyes was great to see, and the comment “hooker was good, but they sure squeeze your head”, shows that this year’s Under 11 side has some great Wildcats coming through.
A great game to start the season, Well Done Boys! Tony King
